Bio

Joydeep Ganguly is Senior Vice President, Corporate Operations at Gilead Sciences. In his current role, he is accountable for several strategic functions, including: corporate engineering and operations; infrastructure and capital planning; sustainability; risk management and resilience; global procurement; and the program management office. Joydeep also oversees Gilead’s corporate real estate portfolio, which comprises more than 6.5 million square feet of research and development, commercial and administrative space. Prior to Gilead, Joydeep spent 10 years at Biogen, in roles of increasing responsibility in the areas of technical operations, manufacturing and supply chain. In his role as Vice President and Head of Biogen’s Global Manufacturing and Technical operations organization, he oversaw the company’s multi-scale biologics operations, as well as led general operations for the company’s presence in North Carolina.

A transformational thought leader in the operations space, Joydeep has received leadership awards at both Biogen and Bayer, which recognized exemplary and outstanding contributions to industry and company imperatives. He has published extensively about operations transformation, bioprocess optimization and supply chain evolution. The International Society of Pharmaceutical Engineering (ISPE) recognized Joydeep with the Roger Sherwood Journal Article of the Year for his publication about the application of innovative process analytics within operations, an area in which he remains active and holds multiple patents.

Joydeep is passionate about Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) and the role of technology in shaping the workforce of the future. A past board member of the North Carolina Biosciences Organization (NCBIO) and the North Carolina Museum of Life and Sciences, he currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Bay Area Council, Science from Scientists and North Carolina State University’s Supply Chain Research Consortium. He was recently recognized by the National Diversity Council as a top 50 diverse leader in California. Joydeep earned a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame, a Master of Business Administration from North Carolina State University and is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Healthcare management from Cornell University.
