The Economist Ranks NC State Among World’s Best MBA Program
NC State’s Jenkins MBA program is among the top 100 programs worldwide, according to The Economist‘s latest ranking of full-time MBA programs. The Economist ranked the Jenkins full-time MBA program at the Poole College of Management No. 97 on its list of the top 100 global MBA programs — and among the top-50 MBA programs in the United States. NC State placed among the top-25 U.S.-based public institutions.
“Return on investment, flexibility and real-world engagement opportunities continue to be hallmarks of the NC State Jenkins MBA,” said Frank Buckless, interim dean, professor of accounting and Matthew and Ruth Keen Faculty Fellow at NC State’s Poole College of Management.
NC State was ranked especially highly along four dimensions:
- Percentage of graduates with jobs within three months of commencement (No. 28 worldwide)
- Alumni ranking of career services (No. 49)
- Salary increase pre and post-graduation (No. 52), and
- Faculty quality (No. 52).
The Economist collected data during spring 2018, using two surveys. The first was completed by schools with eligible programs and covered quantitative matters such as the salary of graduates, the average GMAT scores of students and the number of registered alumni. This accounted for around 80 percent of the ranking. The remaining 20 percent was derived from a qualitative survey filled out by current MBA students and schools’ most recent graduating MBA classes. The Economist asked respondents to rate things such as the quality of the faculty, facilities and career services department.
“NC State’s ranking among the world’s top MBA programs reflects our commitment to delivering an MBA program that prepares think and do leaders for meaningful career success,” said Dean Buckless.
Over the past years, NC State Jenkins MBA graduates have realized a significant growth in average starting salary –– up nearly 20 percent from 2017 to 2018. The program credits a Career Center team that the emphasizes experiential learning, leadership development and customization.
