4 Alumni Named to BOT

The UNC Board of Governors named a former student body president to the NC State Board of Trustees and reappointed three other alumni to the 13-member advisory board for four-year terms.

The new member, Ed Stack, served two years as student body president before graduating with a Bachelor of Science in textile apparel and management in 1992. He worked with the Student Aid Association for 16 years after graduating and currently serves as vice president of the Alumni Association. Stack is vice president of administration and development for Jarrett Bay Boatworks in Beaufort, North Carolina.

The three reappointed members are also alumni and longtime supporters of the university.

Chip Andrews graduated from the Poole College of Management with a Bachelor of Arts in economics in 1966. Since then, he has served on numerous NC State committees. He previously served on the Board of Visitors and was a member of the Poole College of Management Advisory Board for five years. He has also served as a member and president of the Friends of the Gregg Museum, chair of the Graduate School Advisory Board, and volunteer leader of the Campaign for NC State Students. He is a co-founder of the mentorship program in the Poole College of Management’s Entrepreneurship Clinic. Andrews is currently a member of the Alumni Association and the W.H. Page Society.

Stan Kelly, the CEO and president of Piedmont Triad Partnership, graduated from the Poole College of Management, earning a Bachelor of Arts in business management in 1980. He was previously a member of the NC State University Foundation Board, serving on its Nominations Committee and Development Committee. He has also served as a member of the Park Scholars Selection Committee, chair of the Poole College of Management Achieve! Campaign Steering Committee and a member of the Alumni Association Board of Directors. In 2005, he received the Pool College of Management Alumnus of the Year award and was granted honorary lifetime membership in the Alumni Association.

Dewayne Washington graduated from the College of Humanities and Social Sciences in 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts in multidisciplinary studies. He is CEO and managing partner of the D. Washington Group, a commercial construction and property services company. Washington is involved in numerous NC State organizations and is a lifetime member of the Alumni Association. He previously served on the Board of Visitors and the NC State University Foundation.

Board members serve as advisers to the Board of Governors on matters pertaining to NC State and advise the chancellor on the management and development of the institution. Of the board’s 13 members, eight are appointed by the Board of Governors and four by the state legislature. NC State’s student body president serves as an ex-officio member.
