The BS Degree in Business Administration with a Supply Chain Management Focus
The Supply Chain Management curriculum at NC State’s Poole College of Management provides undergraduates with the skills, knowledge and practical experience to become tomorrow’s supply chain leaders. The curriculum is available as a concentration for students majoring in Business Administration.
Supply Chain Management students receive a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major with an operations/supply chain management concentration.
The Practicum: Undergraduate
A distinguishing characteristic of the Supply Chain Management undergraduate concentration in the Business Administration program at Poole College is that students engage in a semester-long experiential learning project. Called the practicum, the project pairs small student teams with an industry partner of the SCRC to help solve a specific supply-chain problem that company is experiencing.
Students gain valuable work experience in the field as well as professional contacts that can help them secure employment when they graduate.

This is where SCM students apply their classroom knowledge to solve real world problems, working with real companies. In the practicum, students work in small teams with company mentors to solve a supply chain related problem presented by a partner company. They wrap up the semester-long projects with presentations of their findings and recommendations to key executives at the sponsoring company, and summary reports to SCRC partner companies at the semester-end bi-annual meeting.
Throughout the process, students gain valuable problem-solving experience, learn to work collaboratively, and provide valuable solutions to the sponsoring company. Companies frequently report significant savings after implementing the innovative solutions developed by their student practicum teams.
